UCMJ Adverse Actions

There are other consequences to either a conviction, or when allegations are dealt with administratively

If found guilty of a military sexual assault there are various collateral consequences, depending on what sentence is adjudged.

Sex offender registration. Society has convinced itself that SOR is not a punishment but a collateral consequence. Nice to say, but often so far from the truth to be almost inane.

Removal. If you are a alien resident serving in the military to gain citizenship, your status in the U.S. will change and various “immigration” status consequences will ensure.

Even if found not guilty (or the case is diverted from a court-martial) there are potential collateral consequences. For example, promotion holds become removal from a promotion list. A retirement may be approved, but the person is “reduced” in grade as a result of a retirement grade determination board.
